In 1990, the Moscow Zoo was renovated and brought up-to-date. In addition, the zoo was expanded once more. New exhibits were opened including a sea aquarium, an aviary, a creatures of the night exhibit, a sea lion aquarium and a special zoo for children.

The zoo was founded in 1864 on the original 17th century territory of the village of Voskresenkoye near the Presnya River. The zoo functioned even during the years of the Second World War. Today Moscow Zoo covers an area of 20 hectares and is home to 960 species and over 5,000 animals and birds in all. The zoo's numerous rare and exotic species include Przewalski's wild horses, Siberian tigers, handsome gray snow leopards.

Recently the monorail railway was built in the district of VDNKh (The All-Union Agricultural Exhibition) and Ostankino. Its route is VDNKh - TV centre Ostankino - metro station Timiryazevskaya. The speed of the train is rather low, and the sights are not very famous, but all the same, the trip on the monorail in Moscow is rather exotic and interesting.

Historians consider that it was founded by the refugees from the city of Kolomna, who were escaping from Baty-khan in 1237. Now it is a park with ancient temples and splendid landscape. It is also known as one of the best pleasure resorts in Moscow.

A memorial on Poknonnaya Hill stands to commemorate the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Poklonnaya Hill is a complex situated on the territory of 135 hectares that embraces Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War, Victory Monument and 3 temples of 3 religions built in memory of the killed during the war. In front of the museum on the Winners Square 140-meter obelisk rises crowned by a figure of Nika, a goddess of Victory. 1418 fountains on the central alley symbolize duration of the war.
